25 miles north of the Arctic Circle awaits a skiing experience beyond the ordinary. Björkliden is part of three Arctic destinations that together offer an unusual breadth. Here you will find family-friendly skiing and a tranquillity that makes the place a free zone for both body and soul. At the same time, neighboring Riksgränsen offers unbeatable spring skiing and challenging runs for those who seek the steeper and wilder. Through the Arctic Ski Pass, a lift pass that opens up 44 groomed slopes and endless off-piste opportunities in the heart of the Arctic nature, the two resorts are also linked to Narvik in Norway.

For those who want to top off their stay, a night at Låktatjåkko Mountain Station, Sweden's highest mountain station at 1,228 meters above sea level, is recommended. To Laplands Resort's third destination, which is surrounded by high mountains, there are daily cable car rides from Björkliden. Should the storm blow, there are cross-country trails, ski touring, spas, restaurants and exercise facilities to fall back on.

- It is very unique to stay with us. Once you get up to us, there are no trees, it's just mountains. The fact that we are so high up can of course make it very stormy sometimes, but then there are other things to do,
says Linda Andersson, General Manager at Lapland Resorts.

An Arctic adventure - closer than you think

The destinations are being developed carefully but purposefully under new ownership, with a long-term plan for the next 10-15 years. The values are clear: We care, we know our stuff, we dare. This is evident in our encounters with guests, from international Nordic ski travelers to families with children and elite skiers. The fact that the Swedish national ski team chooses to train here also says something about the high quality of skiing and the hospitality that prevails.

Despite its Arctic location, the journey here is easy: just over an hour from Kiruna and only three hours from Stockholm by plane and transfer. Perhaps it's the contrast that makes Björkliden so special - when everyday life is suddenly replaced by wide open spaces and silence. Here you are surrounded by mountains, snow and the feeling of being part of something bigger.

- It's hard to describe the feeling that surrounds our resort. It's like no other destination and something I wish everyone could experience at some point," concludes Linda Andersson.
