Lapland Resorts: A Commitment to Sustainability

Lapland Resorts is dedicated to preserving the pristine beauty and uniqueness of the Arctic region while providing exceptional hospitality experiences. Our commitment to sustainability is deeply rooted in our values and operations. We believe that responsible tourism is essential for protecting the environment and supporting local communities.

HERE’S A GLIMPSE INTO OUR SUSTAINABILITY INITIATIVES:

Environmental Stewardship

  • Waste Reduction: We have implemented waste sorting programs for our guests in our Kåppas cabin village and at the camping, including composting, and are actively working to extend these practices to our hotel rooms during the fall of 2024. All waste from the restaurants and our other resort facilities are managed accordingly to refuse, reduce, reuse and recycle.
  • Carbon Footprint Reduction: We are actively involved in the SLAO guidelines to reduce our carbon footprint and minimize our impact on the environment.
  • Nature Conservation: We educate all visiting as well as prospective guests about the importance of preserving the Arctic ecosystem and encourage responsible behavior, such as minimizing waste and respecting wildlife.
  • Charging stations:In both Riksgränsen and Björkliden there are several charging stations available for electric cars, to make it easier for our guests to choose a sustainable travel option.

Social Responsibility

  • Employee well-being: We prioritize the well-being of our employees by providing a supportive work environment, including intern communication, whistleblower support structures and educational opportunities.
  • Community Engagement: We are committed to supporting local communities and contributing to their development through various initiatives. We are part of Resort Alliance together with POW Sweden.
  • Gender equality and diversity: Our resorts promote gender equality, while respecting local culture, and diversity. We have a large recruitment optic where we welcome work force based on their skills, commitment and passion for the Arctic mountains, to our resorts from all over the world (as long as you have a valid work permit in Sweden).

”Our sustainability efforts align with the principles of the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs).”

We are part of Kiruna Lapland Ekonomiska Förening where we participate to make our destinations sustainable in line with all their goals.
